Born in Unity, Saskatchewan, I enjoyed drawing at a young age and started painting at the age of sixteen, teaching myself by studying art books and the paintings of the masters and contemporary artists. In the 1980s, my formal training was inspired by and developed under the mentorship of the late John Hannley, and influenced by Anne Post, Robert Bailey and Dean Reeves through Continuing Education in Edmonton.

Following a career in construction I opened an art supply store in St. Albert and through that displayed my art work. This attracted people interested in realistic painting in oil, so I taught others what I had been taught. I have been displaying and selling my works in St. Albert for many years.
